Frequently asked questions
How do I post an ad?
Sign in and open Post a listing (the Sell button). Fill in the title, category, price and location, and add at least 3 clear photos — the first one becomes your cover picture. Every new listing goes through a quick review before it appears publicly, and you'll get a notification once it's live.
How do I contact a seller?
Open the listing and use the contact panel. You need to be signed in to see the seller's phone and WhatsApp numbers — that keeps sellers' details away from scrapers and spammers. You can also message the seller in-app without leaving the site.
What are boosts and how do they work?
Boosts are paid placements that push your listing higher in search and onto featured slots. You pay once for a fixed period (per the plan you choose) via M-Pesa or card, the boost activates as soon as the payment settles, and it ends automatically when the period is over — there is no recurring charge.
What do the verification badges mean?
Badges show how far a seller has been checked: ID-verified (a person's identity was confirmed), Merchant (a registered business), and Sector-licensed (a business holding the licence its sector requires). Categories like veterinary/animal-health products and property require a valid licence — e.g. from the Kenya Veterinary Board or the Estate Agents Registration Board — because selling them unlicensed is illegal and risky for buyers.
How do I report a suspicious listing?
Open the listing page and tap Report near the seller details. Pick a reason (scam, prohibited item, misrepresentation, etc.) and add a short note. Reports work even when you're signed out, and our moderation team reviews every one.
Do buyers pay through the site?
No. Baringo SuperMarket is a classifieds marketplace: buyers and sellers agree and settle directly, ideally after inspecting the goods in person. The only payments on the platform are seller fees — boosts, subscriptions and verification. Anyone asking you to 'pay through the site' to receive goods is attempting a scam; report the listing.
